Gardai have rushed to seal off a busy west Dublin housing estate after a man was shot dead in Finglas.

Officers are currently investigating the shooting on Deanstown Avenue in Finglas.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at approximately 4:30am.

“A man, aged in his 20s, was discovered with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The coroner has been notified and arrangements will now be made for a post-mortem examination to be carried out by the State Pathologist.”

The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination to be conducted by the Garda Technical Bureau.
