In the middle of the Jim Sheridan episodes and I am wondering how the hell Farrell hasn’t been held accountable yet for the sheer hassle she has caused with lie after lie and twisting every story she tells – Regardless of who is guilty in this case it just seems mad that she hasn’t been looked into deeper. What does she get out of lying continuously? Her refusal to name who she was in the car with is especially weird, you’d have to wonder what she really does know.

Turning up at that spot in Toormore at the bridge so close to Sophie’s house, was it really just a coincidence or not? Is she protecting someone? Or is she just a very naive, gullible, and easily manipulated woman? All these years later you would think a conscience to do the right thing by Sophie’s family she would at least show a bit more honesty and say who she was in the car with – That’s the most suspicious thing to me. Given how she’s proved to be a liar already there’s every chance she was alone in the car, and if she was, why would she lie about that? Maybe she never even saw Sophie in her shop with a man outside and lied about that as well, there is the possibility that the only thing she was guilty of was wanting some attention and saw an opportunity, as mad as that sounds. There’s a possibility she was never even at Toormore when she said she was. If she saw a man watching Sophie in her shop would she have been the only person on the main street in Schull to witness this?

I find it strange she was never looked at as a suspect, the more I think about it the more it seems she could know something crucial but won’t be upfront about it, maybe I am reading too much into this but the two things that stand out the most are her refusal to name who was in the car and how she was in that place of all places at around the time of Sophie’s murder, it could just be a very weird coincidence but given how unlikely at this stage it seems that the truth may never come out they should be looking into it, and at the very least she should have been held accountable for perjury.

I feel so bad for Sophie’s family, they are being denied resolution from years of anguish and unless they get the truth which seems more and more unlikely they will never be able to find some sort of peace or find some solace in knowing whoever killed Sophie has been brought to justice might finally allow her to rest in peace. Maybe Farrell had nothing to do with it, maybe she really was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, maybe she was just a deeply unhappy woman and out of some fantasy, she saw an opportunity to get some attention but at this stage in the event that she does know something they should really be doing some digging. In the event that she just made everything she claimed to have seen up and that’s what she had to resort to to get some attention then it’s terrible and shameful, a woman had been killed under horrific circumstances, a killer was loose and Farrell had to be center stage of that.

Regardless of what of the above may or may not be true Marie Farrell needs to face some consequences. She should be disgusted with herself.
