A SUSPECTED Irish drug dealer who “fled” Majorca three years ago after escaping a police operation to catch him, has been held in Magaluf for new alleged offences.
He was arrested in the party resort after detectives received a tip-off he was living on the island again and was “back to his old ways” selling illegal substances.
The Civil Guard confirmed the detention today.
It released a photo of him being put into the back of a patrol car in handcuffs but did not release his name or offer any details about his age.
The force said in a statement: “The Civil Guard has arrested an Irish national as the alleged author of a crime of drug trafficking.”
A spokesman added: “In July 2019 the Civil Guard carried out an operation in which they smashed a group which was selling cannabis resin and marijuana through a cannabis association in Magaluf.
“Eight people were arrested in that operation and several kilos of marijuana buds and cannabis resin were seized.
“A ninth suspect fled the island and was thought to have returned to Ireland.
“Recently detectives received information suggesting he was back in Majorca and was selling drugs in the municipality of Calvia which includes places like Magaluf.
“After some investigative work they located and arrested him in Magaluf where he had settled again, and confiscated marijuana which was ready to be sold.”
