Dublin man who fled garda drugs search had nothing on him but was ‘in a very poor humour’, court told

AN apprentice plumber who ran from a garda drugs search had nothing on him but was in a “very poor humour”, a court has heard.
Quentin Murray was fined €150 after Dublin District Court heard there was nothing “sinister” in the incident.
Murray (23), of Oliver Bond flats in the south inner city, pleaded guilty.
Dublin District Court heard gardaí saw the accused acting suspiciously at John Street West on April 4, 2020. When they asked him to stop for a search, he ran away but was caught. Nothing was found.
Murray was “in a very poor humour that day,” his lawyer said. When gardaí asked him to stop, he was of the view that they would not find anything “and they didn’t”, he said.
There was nothing more sinister to what happened, the lawyer added.
Judge Treasa Kelly told Murray he had a good job in a good trade and “you don’t need this kind of nonsense going on in the background”.
“You must comply with the gardaí,” she said. “You are better off to just do as they say.”
The judge took into account that it was Covid times and emotions were running high.
She gave him four months to pay the fine and bound him to the peace for a year.
