Homelessness at crisis levels in Ireland, while at the same time we must accept refugees from Ukraine and other war-torn countries. Balance is hard to achieve but it is good to know that people who come here to Ireland for refuge are so eager to “give”. The Ukrainians who help clean our canals and so many other tasks and these Muslim women who provide food for 400 people and cut the hair of those who cannot afford the luxury. Thank you.

40,000+ Ukrainian people have come to Ireland, leaving Ukraine as refugees.  However, there is a fine balance of the number of people we can give homes too.  Government must address the problem of homelessness in Ireland and at the same time assist in their endeavours to relieve Ukrainians in search of a home away from their war torn country Ukraine caused by ruthless invasion by the Russian Federation.  The world says NO to Dictator Putin’s grab of the four provinces.  We do not accept this.

However homelessness of our own Irish people reaching such a high level, must force the Government into action. There are many voids in local authority estates, some say as many as 5,000, all it takes is 3 months to make these properties into homes for families and single people. Likewise there are many properties (potential homes) vacant and their owners could, if enticed, return to the market place and provide homes for people in need. Check out Peter McVerry Trust. Repair & Lease is an option that needs marketing.
