Defence counsel Brendan Grehan wasn’t going to waste time by mincing his words when he stood up to begin cross-examining the former Sinn Féin councillor who is testifying against Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch in the Regency murder trial.

“You know who I am and who I represent,” Mr Grehan told state witness Jonathan Dowdall as he quickly got the formalities out of the way.
