Disputes. Mediation, and Common Sense.

This site receives hundreds of emails weekly. Since the Covid we have noticed a lot of anger and frustration among people. I am talking about Disputes; these can range within a workplace but sadly now the increase is happening within housing estates. We don’t solve problems. We are not a Grannyaunt site; at times we give advice to people intelligent enough to take it and move on with their lives. As the old saying goes “Never get involved with Family Disputes or for that matter warring neighbours”. There are always two sides to an argument. Some people go to the Gardai across Ireland when they fall out with others, as long as there are no physical assaults the Gardai cannot get involved. These matters are Civil Cases.

I say to people across Ireland today when you are having a dispute with another person and you make accusations against their good name and character, you need to have the evidence and the backup to support same. Otherwise the person who has been on the other end of the accusations has the legal right to defend their good name and that means they can Sue for Defamation. I have seen people who have had to sell their homes because they lost cases over false accusations. Common sense will tell to sit down and mediate or stop the Argument by moving on with their lives.

There is nothing much more to say on this topic for now but Gardai are not nannies they are Guardians of the personal safety and property in accordance with their Oath.
