Search for missing Offaly man Noel Guilfoyle stood down following discovery of body • 40m ago
The search for an Offaly man missing from home in Tullamore since Tuesday has been stood down following the discovery of a body on Saturday, June 10.
Gardaí had been appealing for information to help find the whereabouts of 45-year-old Noel Guilfoyle who was missing from his home in Tullamore, Offaly since June 6.
However, on Saturday this search was stood down after a body was discovered by Gardaí in Galway.
In a statement, Gardaí said: Following the discovery of a body of a male in County Galway on Saturday, June 10, the missing person appeal for Noel Guilfoyle has been stood down.”
They added that they would “like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.”
Gardaí had initially appealed for information to help trace the whereabouts of Noel on Thursday, releasing a statement that said both: “Gardaí and Noel’s family are concerned for his wellbeing” alongside information about Noel and where he was last seen.

On Friday, Noel’s wife Chantelle Guilfoyle penned a heartbreaking message to him on social media as the search was ongoing.
Chantelle wrote: “As your Mam May has said, we are all here with our arms wide open, waiting for you to walk into our home, our haven of peace, devotion and warmth which you love. Remember this is all that matters.”
She added: “You are the best husband, father, son, brother, nephew, friend and colleague in the world.”
