July 5th, 2023. Today’s tweets, videos and quotations. Recommend retired Colonel Douglas Macgregor (his take differs from what we hear in the media but is very important to at least be aware of). “One thug replaced by another”. Will Putin be in control for years? Suggest watching DW Conflict Zone. Theme throughout is about the power of propaganda, PR. Edward Bernays is Freud’s nephew. The videos are enlightening.

Excellent interview by Douglas Macgregor and the travesty that consumed Eastern Europe and the orchetrated famines to kill off people, including the Holodmor in Ukraine.  Straight Talking.  Worth listening to for different perspective.

In the west, we need to learn discernment; we can take it that the Russian population are still in the trance of bot led trolls. Internet Research Agency may be deleted but the troll factory can operate anywhere. Just recall Cambridge Analytica.

It could not be clearer. Western failure to attribute Nova Kakhovka dam attack, plus US fears of triggering regime collapse are letting Russia prepare a nihilistic end-game at Zaporizhzhia NPP… Ukraine said it. Are you listening?

Since Yevgeny Prigozhin fled Russia, speculation has continued about what Vladimir Putin will do next and what threats his regime may face. The head of the Wagner mercenary group’s “March for Justice” may have turned back before it reached Moscow, but the repercussions are still being felt, according to sources within Russian security services. Russian investigative journalist Andrei Soldatov has sources within the intelligence services. He says the Russian army’s “wait and see” approach during the Wagner mutiny has unsettled power holders within the apparatus. “The biggest threat is not Prigozhin per se, but the reaction of the army and the security services,” Soldatov told DW’s Sarah Kelly. “The people who were put in charge of providing political stability for Putin’s regime did absolutely nothing” when Wagner mercenaries took over the military headquarters in Russia’s southern city of Rostov-on-Don. Prigozhin has reportedly fled to sanctuary in Belarus despite a pledge of amnesty from Putin. But how big of a threat remains and what will happen next? “Putin is really good at conducting repressions,” Soldatov said.

If we understand the mechanisms and motives of the group mind, it is now possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing it In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.

The American motion picture is the greatest unconscious carrier of propaganda in the world today. It is a great distributor for ideas and opinions. The motion picture can standardize the ideas and habits of a nation. Because pictures are made to meet market demands, they reflect, emphasize and even exaggerate broad popular tendencies, rather than stimulate new ideas and opinions. The motion picture avails itself only of ideas and facts which are in vogue. As the newspaper seeks to purvey news, it seeks to purvey entertainment.
