Eamon Dunphy slams ‘disgraced’ Dave Fanning and doubts RTE will ‘ever recover’ amid payments scandal
Ex-chat show host Eamon also came to the defence of the Oireachtas committee members involved in last week’s hearings

Eamon Dunphy has said he is not sure if “RTE can ever recover” from its crisis.
On his podcast, The Stand, Dunphy said: “It’s a stunning revelation of incompetence, stupidity, greed and basically I am not sure if RTE can ever recover from this.”
The former RTE sports pundit continued that “we saw Ryan Tubridy with his agent, Noel Kelly in a six and half hour extravaganza and it was deeply unsatisfactory from many points of view”. Ex-chat show host Eamon also hit out at Dave Fanning for appearing “to have disgraced himself” again.
Dunphy, 77, criticised the DJ, 67, and came to the defence of the Oireachtas committee members involved in last week’s hearings. He said: “Given that they’ve only got 10 minutes – given that in Tubridy and Kelly’s appearance they only had stuff dumped on them at 8.30 in the morning, they’ve been really good and forensic.
“Some of them have been outstanding. A lot of people have been trying to rubbish the committee, saying they’re being hostile and nasty.
