A man who was repeatedly stabbed by someone known to him managed to make his way to a neighbouring house to raise the alarm.
The victim, in his 30s, was knifed more than 10 times at a house in Castleknock in the early hours of yesterday morning. The attacker fled on foot as the injured man sought help.
He was rushed to St James’ Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. And it is understood that the man, who is thought to be from north Africa, was able to speak to medics in the hospital last night.
A source said: “This seems to have been a row with two people known to each other at a house. The victim suffered a serious amount of injuries and is incredibly lucky to be alive.
“The medical staff are keeping a close eye on him because with the amount of times he was stabbed, there is a real risk there with internal bleeding.” Another source said: “The priority of the investigation for the gardai is tracking down the suspect in the case.”
