After the brutal attack on a US tourist in the city centre last week, the safety of the capital city has been at the forefront of national debate. Justice Minister Helen McEntee has promised a “tough and firm response” to the violent attack on Stephen Termini, which happened metres away from Store Street Garda station.

With drug crime and violence a common occurrence in the North inner city, questions are being asked about the policing of the city and whether a greater Garda presence on the streets will solve the problem. Has Dublin become lawless and how can those working and living in the city feel safer? Presenter Fionnán Sheahan is joined by Robin Schiller and Amy Blaney of the Irish Independent to discuss.
