A key associate of paralysed Drogheda mob boss Owen Maguire was taunted on the streets of the town in recent days as the feud continues to simmer.

The associate, who was arrested and quizzed earlier this year and released without charge in connection with the murder of the feud’s first victim, Keith Brannigan, was warned by the person taunting him “You are not allowed in Drogheda, none of ye are.”

Mr Brannigan, 29, was targeted because he was a close pal of the leader of the anti-Maguire faction. He was shot dead while laying decking at Clogherhead caravan park in August 2019.

In video footage that emerged of the incident, seen by this paper, the male is videoing Maguire’s associate as he quickly walked away, shouted at him to “Come down the back alley, come on,” before calling him a number of expletives.

The male videoing the key associate also shouted: “You were ran from Moneymore, you were ran from Drogheda. You are not allowed in Drogheda,” before he continued to taunt him and a female companion as they crossed the road at North Quay in the town.

The male continued to taunt and antagonise him to “Come down the alley here. Come into the back alley,” before shouting at him: “How much does Owen pay ya to wheel him around the streets? Nothing cos he doesn’t come out on the streets, he’s hiding like a little mole rat.”

This incident, which took place in the feud-hit town in recent days, has been described as ‘serious development’ by a source in times when the feud has died down.

“The feud has quietened down since mid 2020 after the horrific murder and dismemberment of Keane Mulready Woods but there have been a number of incidents since then and now this,” a source told this paper.

“The feud is still simmering away and has not gone away despite a number of key players either in prison, dead or have fled overseas,” the source continued.

Although senior gang members on both sides of the deadly feud went to ground in the aftermath of the gruesome murder of 17-year-old Keane in January 2020, gardai now fear the gang’s have recruited new members to take over and continue the drugs war.
