No more sympathy for the State broadcaster represented by its elites – those ‘Godlike personalities and freeloaders’. RTE stands in the dock and it looks as if they are going to be losers as well as losers from the payment of licences. RTE in chaos. Just when all the books post Celtic Tiger, their revelations of gouging expenses for special treats; we the naive public believed, it could never happen again. Where is Shane Ross re RTE? He sure wrote a most detailed book about “Wasters” and sadly we have more to add to the pile now. Con Artists … media relishes the con job. Conscience, ethics and morality play a significant role but as far as the public sector in Ireland goes, there is a disconnect. RTE has many workers who are paid paltry sums, who no doubt work overtime but receive no pay and work from locations that is sub-standard to the elites. There also is a hidden complexity re working from home (it may be even a con job for the big companies who defaulting on their new building/offices contracts – this is a far cry from equality. Chances are if you are young, it is basic lodgings used as your work location whereas middleaged, may even have a paid off loan, an extension and all the luxuries that life can give some and not others.
