Officers “attacked” by a man in a patrol car were told no garda van was available after they called for assistance.
The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday as they responded to a domestic incident in West Dublin.
The suspect was arrested and being driven to Blanchardstown Garda station when he allegedly lashed out, kicking a female officer to the head.
The cops called command and control to get a van with an internal cell but were told none were available.
In a second incident on Sunday evening, a man acting erratically had to be brought into garda custody in a Dublin Fire Brigade ambulance because gardai were again warned no van was available.
This is despite €16.8million being invested in new garda vehicles last year, the highest spend in 14 years.

Mark Ferris, the Garda Representative Association representative for West Dublin, said it is “unacceptable”.
