Convicted rapist Simon McGinley still in prison after failing to raise €2,000 for bail

CONVICTED rapist Simon McGinley remains in prison after failing to raise €2,000 for his bail.

McGinley was brought to Cloverhill Prison last week after he was accused of breaching the conditions of his release.

The sex offender appeared at Dundalk District Court yesterday via videolink after Gardai alleged he was involved in two breaches of his release.

The sex beast, 50, was first arrested on August 11 after he was accused of cold calling to a house over the sale of a car.

During the house call, he spoke to a teenage girl and was accused of “pestering her”.

He was also accused of “clanging” her door.

McGinley was first suspected by Gardai of breaching the conditions of his release in February when he was caught power washing the driveway of an elderly lady in Skerries.

On that occasion, he’s suspected of “pressurising” the woman into having the maintenance work carried out.

We also understand he’s suspected of calling to one house on four different occasions.

He’s due to return to court on September 6.
