Dublin woman left with ‘substantial facial injuries’ after assault in her home

A woman is currently in recovery after she was allegedly assaulted by a man who tried to steal her car last night, gardai have said.

The incident happened in Dublin 4 overnight. A spokeswoman for An Garda Siochana told Dublin Live the woman was in bed at home when she awoke to the man trying to steal her car from her home.

The woman went out and “disturbed the scene of the robbery” but the thief assaulted her and gave her “quite substantial facial injuries”.

A call went out on the Garda radio with his description and a man was located by a unit on patrol within minutes of the report. The spokeswoman said that there was a bit of a struggle.A man is in custody now and there is a potential for a number of charges, including assault and attempted robbery.
