Galway chef turned US cop’s sick double life exposed as he’s jailed on child sex crimes
Flanagan, 38, exposed by the FBI in the States, will spend three decades behind bars after he pleaded guilty in April to the production of child pornography.

This is the former Galway chef turned US cop who was this week jailed for 30 years for child sex crimes.
Derrick Patrick Flanagan, who gained Sheriff’s Deputy status in Hancock County, Mississippi, pleaded guilty to the production of child pornography.
The caged paedophile worked as a sous chef in Galway hotels between 2016 and 2018 after graduating from Galway Institute of Technology.
But the sicko moved to the US and became a cop, helping protect the streets of America while secretly corrupting and abusing the youngest and most vulnerable in society.
Flanagan, 38, exposed by the FBI in the States, will spend three decades behind bars after he pleaded guilty in April to the production of child pornography.
He enticed and coerced a minor under the age of 13 to engage in sexually explicit conduct and to produce child porn using materials that had been transported across state lines and by computer.
He was uncovered after the Sheriff’s department at Hancock County received two tips from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.
It was these tip-offs that made Flanagan’s colleagues in the force start internal investigations into the Galwegian – the first of which came at the end of November 2020.
Investigators were led to a file sharing device called Dropbox that contained child sexual abuse material that was stored under the false name of John Adams.
The Dropbox account was tracked to Flanagan’s residence in the US where the evil man was confronted by fellow cops – but the coward blamed the allegations on his roommate.
He also used the social media platform Snapchat to threaten minors into sending him images of an explicit nature – while also sending indecent photos of himself.
Those investigating the case said they discovered “multiple visual depictions of child sexual abuse material” after forensically searching laptops and phones belonging to Flanagan.
They also discovered over “40,000 lines of chat” sent through Snapchat which was the perv’s main form of communication to target, threaten and abuse his victims – whom he sometimes even paid.
Court testimonies also showed findings of 10 videos and one image showing children involved in sexually explicit acts.
As part of his 30-year sentence, Flanagan must pay $5,000 under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015 and $10,000 under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018.
