A Co. Antrim paedophile today admitted sexual abuse of a teenage girl.
In addition to a charge of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13-16, 21-year-old Nathan Millar also confessed to sexual communicating with his victim between the same dates, 1 February and 21 June this year.
Following his admissions at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, a prosecuting lawyer confirmed that three other charges relating to indecent images of a child, inciting the child to engage in sexual activity and causing the girl to watch him engaging in a sexual activity, were being withdrawn by the PPS.
Previously, the prosecution had indicated the case would go on indictment to the Crown Court given the nature of the offences but today , defence counsel Sean Mullan confirmed that having spoken to the directing officer in the PPS, “they’re firmly of the view that the case should be prosecuted in the Magistrates Court.”
Adjourning the case for a pre-sentence report, District Judge Nigel Broderick told Millar, from Camlin Gardens in Crumlin, to come back to court on 24 October.
