A GARDA accused of breaking into a colleague’s locker in a Dublin station and stealing a cannabis exhibit from it has had her case further adjourned.

Holly Lane (33), who is facing drugs, theft and criminal damage charges, was remanded on continuing bail at Dublin District Court today.

The charges against Gda Lane relate to an alleged locker break-in at Store Street garda station in the north city centre on December 12, 2021.

She is charged with damaging the locker; stealing a cannabis exhibit which was the property of another garda; simple possession of the drug, and having it with intent to sell or supply.

She first appeared in court when she was charged in June, and the case came before Judge Michele Finan today.

A state solicitor sought an adjournment and this was consented to by the defence. The judge put the case back to a date next month.

Gda Lane has not yet indicated how she intends to plead to the charges, and the ultimate court venue has also yet to be decided.

At the previous hearing in June, Detective Inspector Mark Jordan told a judge he arrested the accused after meeting her by appointment at Coolock garda station.

Gda Lane made no reply to any of the four counts after caution, was handed copies of the charge sheets and given garda station bail.

The DPP directed summary disposal of the case, Det Insp Jordan said. This means it can be dealt with at district court level if a judge accepts jurisdiction.

Otherwise, the accused would be sent forward to the circuit court which has tougher potential sentencing powers on conviction.

At the request of the accused’s solicitor, the court had ordered disclosure of prosecution evidence to the defence, to include any CCTV footage if available.

The charges against Gda Lane are under the Criminal Damage, Theft and Fraud Offences and Misuse of Drugs Acts
