Scam warning as fake dog warden dishing out €20 fines in south Dublin park
Labour Cllr Pamela Kearns warned there has been several incidents in Tymon Park in Tallaght this week

Dog walkers in the Tallaght area are being warned to watch out for a devious scam where a man pretends to be a dog warden.
According to Labour Cllr Pamela Kearns for Dublin South West, there has been several incidents in Tymon Park, Tallaght in recent days where people were approached by a man claiming to work as a dog warden for South Dublin County Council. This individual would then give out €20 euro on the spot fines for dogs off lead.

But it’s all an elaborate scam, and this individual is not working for the council. Cllr Kearns took to social media to warn followers and dog owners of the scam.
Cllr Kearns said: “I have spoken to the Park Ranger in Tymon Park and he has asked me to let people know that there is a man going around Tymon Park pretending to be the dog warden and issuing 20 euro on the spot fines for dogs off leads.”
Local authorities have the power to give dog owners an on-the-spot fine of €100 if their dog is off lead or not under control. This role is usually carried out by a dog warden, who will have a council vehicle or ID on them.
