Man in critical condition after overnight assault in Dublin city centre

An altercation between two men who know each other broke out at around 1:45am

A man has been left in critical condition after a serious assault in Dublin city centre overnight.

An altercation occurred between two men on Dawson Street at around 1:45am which led to a man aged in his early 20s being rushed from the scene to St. James’s Hospital with serious injuries.

He was transferred to Beaumont Hospital and remains in critical condition. A man, aged in his early 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at a south Dublin garda station .A garda spokeswoman said: “Gardaí are appealing for any persons with information in relation to this incident to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.
