Revenue detector dog uncovers €223,000 worth of cannabis resin from parcels in Dublin

Revenue officers have seized herbal cannabis worth over €223,000 in Dublin on Wednesday, with thanks to a keen canine.
As a result of profiling and with the assistance of detector dog James, Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin seized over 11kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value exceeding €223,000.
Revenue shared a photo this afternoon of sniffer dog, James, standing beside his valuable cargo.
The dried cannabis leaves are seen stacked in clear, plastic bags.
In a statement, a Revenue spokesperson said: “The illicit drugs were discovered in parcels originating from Spain, Croatia and the Czech Republic and were destined for addresses in Dublin.
“Investigations are ongoing.
“These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding drug smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.”
Authorities have had significant success in capturing vast quantities of this particular drug recently.
Last month, approximately €3.3 million euro worth of cannabis was seized in one operation in Dublin alone.
