A sick and depraved paedophile pal of Jimmy Saville, Chris Denning, has died in prison at the age of 81, it has been announced.

His death from diabetes last year has only just been disclosed in a prison report into his care at HMP Bedford.

The ex-BBC Radio 1 DJ was serving separate 13-year prison sentences for sexually assaulting dozens of children – some as young as seven over a forty year period.

Denning would assault the boys at Jimmy Saville’s house and introduced many to Gary Glitter also, it was reported.

He used his fame to gain the kids’ attention and was convicted for 24 specific cases.

The evil presenter was found guilty in 2016 of luring young boys to his home and drugging them with booze. He would pick them up at swimming pools and amusement arcades, when their guard was down.

Denning showed the youngsters pornography before forcing them to perform sex acts and took snaps of them naked, between the 1950s-2000s.

It emerged during Denning’s trial that he brought some victims to Top of the Pops recordings in order to introduce them to his deranged pal, Saville.

Denning’s psychotic abuse only came to light when he offered a child to a ‘very well-known Radio 1 DJ’ for sex at his house. That household name went immediately to authorities, although their identity remains a mystery.

One victim was just seven years old when he first met Denning and came to see him as a ‘father figure’. The BBC DJ then began to sexually abuse the boy telling him it was ‘their secret’.

In 2016, Judge Alistair McCreath said the impact on the victims, had been ‘devastating’.

Prosecutors described the offences as ‘utterly depraved’.

Mr McCreath said at the time:

“It is not to be forgotten that all of this suffering was inflicted by you for nothing other than your own selfish pleasure. You groomed all of these boys. They were for the most part in their early teens, although some were younger.

“You used your own fame, your acquaintance with others who were famous, your familiarity with the music industry… to win their trust and misplaced admiration,” the judge said.

Bizarrely, the paedo represented himself in court and delivered a record-breaking 44-hour closing argument. He eventually had to be cut off by the court, in unprecedented scenes.

The sicko was convicted of abusing boys under 15 and jailed.

In 2001, cops sought to extradite Denning from the Czech Republic to question him under an investigation into paedophile offences linked to a disco for teenagers.

The extradition failed and Denning went on the run, settling in Slovakia.

The Sun newspaper tracked him down in Austria 18 years ago, and he was brought back to the UK to face justice.
