Funeral of tragicl Lorna Kearney who died in a violent incident at her home to take place this week

Lorna, who was in her 40s, died following the incident on Friday, September 29.

The funeral of tragic Lorna Kearney (nee Woodnutt) – who died in a violent incident at her home last month – is to take place on Thursday.

Lorna, who was in her 40s, died following the incident on Friday, September 29.

The following evening, Saturday, September 30, a 16-year-old boy was charged with the murder of Mrs Kearney and appeared before Tullamore District Court.

The teen was remanded to Oberstown Detention Centre to appear again before the court.

Lorna’s heartbroken family have now released details of her funeral as tributes continue to flow for the tragic woman.

Her death notice on RIP.ie reads: “Predeceased by her father Barry. Lorna will be sadly missed by her loving husband Micheál, stepson Mike, sisters Jackie, Roberta and Rachael, brother Derek, mother Magdalene, brothers in law, sisters in law, Emmet and Karolina, nieces and nephews Jade, Jessica, Rachael, Darragh and Harper, relatives, her many wonderful friends and neighbours.”

Lorna’s remains will repose at the home of her sister Roberta O’Brien at Tinnycross on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm.

Removal on Thursday morning to The Church of The Assumption, Tullamore, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11.30am followed by burial after Mass in Clonminch Cemetery, Tullamore.

Tributes continued to flow for Lorna with people continuing to offer condolences to her family with one friend writing: “Rest with the Angels, Lorna, and with your loving Dad. A beautiful lady and loving wife, daughter and sister. May God in his mercy help you all as you grieve. Only a heartbeat away.

Another person wrote: “Rest in peace Lorna. Sincere condolences to Michael and all the Woodnut and Kearney families on your sad loss,” and another wrote: “Heartfelt condolences to everybody who had the pleasure of knowing and loving this beautiful lady. May her beautiful gentle soul rest in everlasting peace.”

At the teen’s court appearance, Judge Andrew Cody warned the public not to share a video that is connected to the case.
