Our young people are talking of “Doomerism”. There is an initiative by the Chinese which thankfully introduces the word Hope based on connectivity and trade. The BLT (the Belt and Road Initiative (based on the historic Silk Road). It has just celebrated its 10th year of action. It is interesting to note that President Putin was a guest of President Xi Jinping and was also there to shake hands with Viktor Orban, Hungary’s President. Compare “IMEC” as potential competitor to BRI which has a 10 head start.
