GARDAI are increasingly confident that they will finally get justice for murdered French beauty Sophie Toscan du Plantier.
They believe they know who killed Sophie, that it was somebody local who knew her and that finally they will have a cast-iron case to prove it.

Over the past year since the cold case review of the horrific 1996 Christmas murder began detectives have painstakingly re-interviewed hundreds of witnesses – the majority old but some new – both at home and abroad.
They received a number of new leads following two high-profile documentaries on the case by award winning producer Jim Sheridan and Netflix.
The smash hit programme re-awakened a number of people’s memories in west Cork of the shocking killing.
A senior source said: “We are slowly but surely building up a case by the book that we can bring to court.

“We believe we have more than enough evidence against a suspect and that the Director of Public Prosecutions will agree with us.
“People have been convicted in Ireland for much more than some of the evidence we have, but we are taking all the time we need to get this right.
“It is a very high-profile case and the whole country is watching but we are determined that justice will finally be delivered for Sophie.”
It is understood that no expense is being spared in the investigation because the Government is embarrassed no one has ever been charged with the murder.
