Search for missing Mayo man Aidan Howley stood down after body found

A search for a missing Mayo man has been stood down following the tragic discovery of a body.
Aidan Howley (42) has been missing from Foxford since Tuesday, 31 October and his family were concerned for his welfare.
A garda spokesperson said: “Following the discovery of a body earlier today, Tuesday 31st October 2023, the missing person appeal for Aidan Howley has been stood down.”
Earlier today, gardaí appealed for help in locating him as searches are being carried out in the local area of Foxford.
“Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 42-year-old Aidan Howley who is missing from Foxford, Co. Mayo since Tuesday, 31st October, 2023,” a garda spokesperson said.
“Aidan is described as being approximately 6ft in height with a thin build, with fair hair, brown eyes and a beard.
“It’s not known what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.
“Aidan’s family are concerned for his welfare and have sought assistance from An Garda Síochána in locating him. Searches of lands in the locality are ongoing.
“Anyone with any information on Aidan’s whereabouts are asked to contact Ballina Garda Station on 096 20560, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.”
