Man (40s) in critical condition after ‘violent disorder’ incident in Co Galway as three women and one man arrested

A man in his 40s is in a critical condition in hospital after a “violent disorder incident” in Ballinasloe, Co Galway.

Three women – two in their 20s and one in their late teens – and a man in his 20s have been arrested by Gardaí in connection with the incident.

The man has since been charged and will appear before Roscommon District Court this morning while the three women have been released without charge and a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:40pm in the Dunlo Hill/Fairgreen area of the town and involved a number of individuals, Gardaí said.

A man, aged in his late 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, where he remains in a critical condition today.

“An incident room has been set up at Ballinasloe Garda station and this investigation is continuing.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward,” a Garda spokesperson said.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Dunlo Hill/Fairgreen area between 11:30pm and midnight on Saturday 4th November 2023 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
