‘Huge concern’ over attacks on gardaí as Commissioner Harris set to tell TDs 646 officers subject to violence last year

More than 646 frontline gardaí have been subjected to violence and assaults while on duty so far this year, a Dáil committee will be told.

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris will appear before the Oireachtas Justice Committee on Tuesday and is expected to tell them that the number of attacks on gardaí is “of huge concern”, and that supporting frontline staff is a priority for him.
