Funeral details for married couple who died in tragic murder-suicide in Clare announced

The funeral details for Joe and Claire Collins, who died following a suspected murder-suicide in Clare have been announced.

The bodies of the married couple, Claire Collins (51) and Joe Collins (54) were discovered at their home in Kilnaboy, near Corofin in County Clare on Thursday afternoon by a friend of the family who called to their home.

The body of Ms Collins was found inside the bungalow while the remains of her husband were discovered outside of the property, after which gardaí were alerted.

Tributes have been paid to the couple, who have two adult children that were not at the property at the time. Mr and Mrs Collins had just recently become grandparents.

A garda liaison officer has been appointed to assist the family through the tragedy.

“They will be sadly missed by their loving daughters Sara and Tara, Sara’s partner Michael and their cherished grandson Rian, also by the Meere and Collins families,” their death notice on RIP.ie states.

They will also be missed by “Claire’s parents Angela and Pat and her brothers Paul and Ronnie and Joe’s mother Kathleen, brothers Michael, Pat, Brian and sister Mina as well as their brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, neighbours and many friends,” it adds.

Joe and Claire Collins will repose in St. Brigid’s Church, Corofin, on Sunday, November 12, from 5.00pm with prayers at 7.30pm.

Requiem mass will take place the following day on Monday, November 13, at 11am followed by a cremation service at Shannon Crematorium at 2.00pm.

“Deepest sympathy and condolences to the Collins and Meeere families on the passing of Claire and Joe. May they rest in peace,” one tribute said.
