Minutes after the guilty verdict was announced last week, Jozef Puska’s father was gently guided out of the courtroom, arms waving, shouting in Slovakian.

He continued shouting as he left, yelling something that only Puska, his extended family and the interpreter who translated for him through the trial could understand.
