A garda who is one of 144 members to resign this year has said that stress as well as pressure to fulfil the “unrealistic expectations of management” were the main reasons he quit the force.

In the past month, 15 gardaí have resigned, while the Garda Representative Association (GRA) has repeatedly said that the issue of recruitment and retention will worsen if more isn’t done to support gardaí.
