Man (53) in court accused of assaulting sheep farmer on his land in Wicklow

A MAN has appeared in court accused of assaulting a sheep farmer on his lands in Co Wicklow.
Ray Murphy (53) had the case against him adjourned at Bray District Court to give him time to consider how he intends to plead.
Mr Murphy, with an address at Ballindinas, Barntown, Co Wexford is accused of assaulting Pat Dunne in an incident on March 19 this year.

The assault is alleged to have happened on Mr Dunne’s land at Glenmalure, Rathdrum, Co Wicklow.
The charge is under Section 2 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
When the case was called before Judge David Kennedy today, defence solicitor Brendan Maloney said it was his client’s first time in court and he was seeking full disclosure of prosecution evidence.
Judge Kennedy made a disclosure order and adjourned the case to January 16, for the accused to enter a plea.
If he is contesting the charge, he will be given a date for a trial in the non-jury court.
Mr Murphy was in court today on foot of a summons and was not required to address the judge during the brief hearing.
