Gardai launched an investigation on Tuesday evening after thugs rammed a car carrying a mother and child – and then shot at it.
The incident happened close to the Spring Lane area of Ballyvolane on the north side of Cork city just after 5.30pm.
Gardai say nobody was injured in the incident – but an investigation is now underway.
It’s understood gardai believe the incident is linked to an ongoing feud in the area.
A Garda spokesman said last night: “Gardaí at Watercourse Road were alerted shortly after 5:30pm this evening following reports of shots fired at a residential area in the Ballyvolane area of Cork city.
“There were no reports of any injuries and inquiries into the matter are ongoing.”
The incident comes after a previous gun attack in the area on Sunday evening.
In that incident, a single shot was fired at a property in the area, but nobody was injured.
Local independent councillor told Cork Beo he was worried for the safety of the public after hearing of rising tensions between two groups on the northside.
He said: “As an elected member of the city council, I am gravely concerned about the potential risks and harm that this situation poses to both the settled and travelling community.The safety and well-being of all citizens are of utmost importance, and urgent actions need to be taken to address these challenges.”
