Rioters raided Arnott’s department store on Henry Street, and looted a Foot Locker store on O’Connell Street.

People also threw bottles at gardaí on the famous Dublin street. Others carried metal bars and smashed shop windows.

Stores shut their doors and closed down shutters ahead of closing time as violent scenes escalated.

Well-known city centre department store Arnotts was due to stay open until 9pm tonight, but looters were seen forcefully lifting the shutters before 8.30pm.
