The octogenarian, the American doctor and a €230k romance fraud by Dublin man with links to Black Axe gang

A Dublin man arrested earlier this week is suspected of being an “active participant” in a romance fraud in which €230,000 was stolen from an 80-year-old woman, the Irish Independent can reveal.

The vulnerable pensioner was living in Germany at the time and was in communication with a person whom she believed was a male American doctor, but instead it was a fraudster with links to the international Black Axe crime gang.
