Woman dies in Dublin city centre hit-and-run as gardaí hunt driver who fled scene

Gardaí are hunting for the driver of a vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run in which a woman was killed in Dublin city centre this morning.

The road crash happened on Manor Street in Stoneybatter, Dublin 7 shortly after 11am.

At this stage, gardaí believe the woman was struck by a vehicle, which failed to remain at the scene, and an investigation is now underway.

Emergency services attended the incident but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Investigators remain at the site of the collision and are carrying out inquiries in the area, including gathering CCTV footage, to identify the vehicle involved in the crash.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene and the road is closed as emergency services deal with the incident and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are able to provide no further information with regard to casualties at this time.
