Hunt for masked gunman as man (40s) shot several times and teen assaulted in Wicklow

It is understood that one of the men was the intended target.

Two men have been hospitalised after a shooting in Co Wicklow this evening.

A man in his mid-40s was shot a number of times while a teenager was assaulted during the incident.

The shocking incident unfolded at Bellevue Hill housing estate in Delgany shortly after 4:30pm.

Both men were rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It is understood that one of the men was the intended target.

Gardaí believe it was a targeted attack and it is understood that the gunman who carried out the attack was masked and used a handgun.

The scene at Bellevue Hill is currently preserved for technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Bellevue Hill area between 4:15pm and 4:45pm are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.

In particular, gardaí are appealing to anyone who saw a black saloon car in the Delgany area travelling to or from the N11 direction between 4:15pm and 4:45pm to come forward.
