A father and son were being treated in hospital last night after they were injured in a targeted gun attack in Co Wicklow yesterday evening.
Gardaí believe that the 44-year-old father was the attempted target of the gun attack and his teenage son was assaulted when he attempted to defend his father.
The incident happened at a building site at a housing development in Delgany, Co Wicklow and gardaí believe the shooting was ordered by gangland criminals based in Bray.
The father has previously been the subject of an attempt on his life in relation to a bitter criminal dispute in Bray.

In yesterday’s incident up to four shots were fired at him and he suffered a number of gun wounds to his legs.
One line in the investigation is that the target’s teenage son was “pistol-whipped” with a handgun and suffered head injuries when he tried to defend his father.
The adult teenager was not shot in the gun attack.

Both men were said to be in a stable condition in a Dublin hospital last night where they were being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The incident happened at around 4.30pm at a building site at the Bellevue Hill housing development in Delgany.
It is understood that the gunman who carried out the attack was masked and used a handgun before fleeing the scene in a black car.
It is unclear how many accomplices were with him and no arrests have yet been made in the case which is being investigated by Greystones gardaí.
Sources said the criminal dispute behind yesterday’s shooting has been ongoing for a number of years and is “localised in nature”.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Bellevue Hill area between 4.15pm and 4.45pm are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.

In particular, gardaí are appealing to any person who observed a black saloon car in the Delgany area travelling to or from the N11 between 4.15pm and 4.45pm to come forward.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Greystones garda station on 01 666 5800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
