A woman “squared up” to a garda and asked “do you want some?” when he was investigating a public order disturbance outside a nightclub.

Linda Oragano (29) was behaving “erratically” following a row on the street when she became aggressive towards the garda, a court heard.

Judge Paula Murphy found her guilty but applied the Probation Act, leaving her without a criminal record.

Oragano, of Glenealy Downs, Dublin 15, had pleaded not guilty to threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour.

A garda told Dublin District Court he went to the Riot Bar at Aston Quay at 3.20am on July 2 this year.

The accused had been ejected and became “quite abusive, at one point stating ‘do you want some?’”, the prosecuting garda said.

Oragano was “aggressive”, agitated and unreasonable, was “squaring up to” the garda and almost requesting a physical fight with him, he said.

Her defence said Oragano would say the phrase she actually used was “do you want to come at me?”

The garda did not accept this.

Oragano said she had gone for a drink and a few games of pool after work.

She alleged she was asked to leave for reasons she did not understand, and claimed she was “manhandled” out.

She said there were altercations outside and alleged she was “attacked”. She said she did not recall saying what the garda alleged.

Her lawyer said the accused’s memory of the night was poor but she was not the kind of person who would do these sorts of things.
