Man in balaclava robs Kildare shop with gun and ‘long-bladed weapon’

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man robbed a shop in Co Kildare armed with a gun and a “long-bladed weapon”.

The incident took place at a retail premises in Derrinturn this morning, Monday 18 December, shortly after 6.30am.

Gardaí say that a man entered the premises armed with a gun and a long-bladed weapon while weaing a balaclava.

He demanded money from the till and a sum of cash was taken.

The man is described as tall with a stocky build. He was wearing dark/black tracksuit bottoms, a dark grey sweatshirt, black runners and a khaki green balaclava.

He was also carrying a black shoulder bag with a white pattern at the time.

No one was harmed during the incident, but investigating gardaí in Leixlip Garda Station are appealing to any person who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

Any person who was in the area of the Derrinturn Main Street between 6.15am and 6.45am this morning and who may have mobile phone or dash cam footage, is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
