A man has been killed and a second man is being treated for gunshot wounds after a Christmas Eve gun attack in a restaurant in Blanchardstown, Dublin.

It is understood that a high velocity weapon was used in the shooting which led to terrified customers, including children and women fleeing the premises.

The victim was shot three times and was brought to hospital in a critical condition.

It’s believed that the suspected gunman was overpowered at the scene and suffered fatal injuries.

It has also believed that the target was a local man, aged in his 40s, and suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and is in a critical condition.

One line being investigated is that the shooting is linked to the bitter Corduff feud that has seen numerous violent incidents.

Two suspects in the case fled the scene in a white Audi car.

Tonight, a garda spokesman confirmed

“Gardaí are investigating an incident that occurred at premises on the Main Street in Blanchardstown Dublin 15 earlier this evening, Sunday, 24th December 2023.

“Gardaí and emergency services personnel were alerted to the incident at around 8pm.

Two males were later taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital to receive medical treatment.

“One of these males, aged in his 20s, was pronounced deceased in hospital a short time afterwards.

“A second man, aged in his 40s, is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds and is in a serious condition.

“The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.”
