Pierce Brosnan due in court after forbidden swim in off-limits hot springs

Pierce Brosnan is due to appear in court in the US after allegedly straying off the path at a national park.

The actor is accused of “breaking rules” by hiking in an off-limits part of Yellowstone National Park, entering the protected hot springs at the Mammoth Terraces.

He was charged with foot travel in a thermal area and a closure violation after allegedly “venturing off the permitted path, attempting to get a closer look at thermals” on November 1, according to court documents obtained by The US Sun.

He is set to appear in court in Wyoming on January 23, 2024, before US Magistrate Judge Stephanie Hambrick.

Federal rules state that national park visitors must remain on designated walkways. Anyone who ventures off the boardwalk risks a possible six months in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 (€4,500).

It comes just months after Brosnan’s home was burgled by a man who pooped in his neighbour’s garden before being apprehended by police.

Deputies from the LA County Sheriff’s department rushed to the former James Bond star’s Malibu pad back in June after receiving reports of a man on his property.

Police say the thief was spotted defecating and urinating in Pierce’s neighbour’s yard, before ransacking through rubbish and moving onto the Meath man’s house.

TMZ reports that cops found the brazen burglar wandering through Pierce’s garden before heading into the house, and taking a shower in his laundry room.

When police arrived, the man is thought to have fled the scene, but was later arrested on the coast, before being charged with burglary.

A report on TMZ stated: “The guy didn’t get far… we’re told a sheriff’s helicopter found the dude hiding in the rocks along the coast… he was taken into custody and booked for burglary… for stealing Pierce’s water.

“Cops say Pierce’s wife, Keely, was home during all the commotion… but it’s unclear if the James Bond star was there too.”
