A SECOND man has been charged over the killing of a gunman who was tackled and fatally assaulted after he opened fire in a steakhouse in Dublin on Christmas Eve.

David Amah (18) appeared in court today charged with murdering Tristan Sherry at a restaurant in Blanchardstown.

Sherry (26), a father of one, was disarmed and fatally injured as he carried out a gun attack in Browne’s Steakhouse, Main Street on the night of December 24.

This morning, Mr Amah from Hazel Grove, Portrane Road, Donabate, Co Dublin, was brought before Blanchardstown District Court charged with murder.

Judge Maire Conneely heard garda evidence of the accused’s arrest charge and caution.

Garda Sergeant Emma Ryan said she arrested Mr Amah for the purpose of charging him at Finglas station yesterday.

He made no reply when charged in her presence at 6.08pm and was handed a copy of the charge sheet, she said.

“Bail doesn’t arise,” Judge Conneely said, as bail can only be granted in the High Court on a murder charge.

She granted free legal aid following an application by the defence solicitor Tertius Van Eeden who said Mr Amah was unemployed. Mr

Van Eeden asked for solicitor Simon Fleming to be assigned on legal aid. The accused was remanded in custody to January 9, for the directions of the DPP.

Mr Amah, dressed in a grey tracksuit was not required to address the court during the brief hearing.

He is the second man to be charged over Mr Sherry’s death.

Michael Andrecut (22), of Sheephill Avenue, Dublin 15 is also charged with his murder and is currently before the courts awaiting DPP directions.

A third man has been charged in connection with Mr Sherry’s death and is due before the court later today.

During the Christmas Eve shooting, Jason Hennessy Snr (48), suffered gunshot wounds. He died from his injuries in hospital yesterday.

A second gunman was also involved in the attack and gardai have since launched a separate murder investigation into Mr Hennessy’s death.
