Man (30s) stabbed to death in Dublin apartment was convicted killer

A major investigation is underway after a convicted killer was found stabbed to death at a west Dublin apartment over the weekend.

The man, aged in his 30s, was discovered seriously injured in the early hours of Sunday morning at the property in the Shackleton estate, Lucan.

He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on Sunday night.

At this stage gardaí believe the man suffered fatal stab wounds and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place today.

Detectives are trying to piece together the man’s movements and have established that the victim travelled in a taxi from Allenton Drive in Tallaght to Lucan in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Sunday World can reveal that the deceased was well-known to gardaí and had previously served a jail term for manslaughter.

He was originally from the Tallaght area and has also been prosecuted in the past for other violent crimes and possession of explosives.

Investigators over the weekend were in the process of informing his next of kin and detectives in Lucan are now leading a major investigation into the fatal assault.

The services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested by investigating gardaí.

The injured man travelled via taxi from the Allenton area in Tallaght, Dublin 24 to an address in the Shackleton residential area of Lucan, County Dublin in the early hours of Sunday morning, a garda spokesperson said.

Any road users who were travelling in the vicinity of Allenton, Tallaght, Dublin 24 and Shackleton, Lucan, County Dublin at this time and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available.
