Remains of prisoners executed in Mountjoy Prison between 1923 and 1954 to be exhumed this month
Excavation planned so the remains of a prisoner pardoned in 2015 can be returned to family for burial

The excavation of Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison is set to take place this month, and will look to exhume the bodies of people executed at the jail up until 1954.
Twenty nine people are believed to have been buried in the grounds of Mountjoy, some of whom were put to death as early as 1923.
