A DUBLIN man has appeared in court charged with directing the activities of a criminal organisation.
David Callaghan (27) was remanded in custody as bail can only be granted on the charge in the High Court.
Judge David McHugh remanded Mr Callaghan in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
The accused, with an address at Harelawn Park in Clondalkin, is charged with directing the activities of a criminal organisation.
The incident allegedly took place both inside and outside the State on dates between April 2021 and February 2022.
Detective Garda Gavin Curran, of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), told Blanchardstown District Court that he arrested the accused at 7.51am on Wednesday morning.
Mr Callaghan was taken to Clondalkin Garda Station where he was later charged by gardai.
Gda Curran said the accused was handed a true copy of the charge sheet and he made no reply to the charge after caution.

The court heard there was no application for bail.
Gda Curran said Mr Callaghan must apply to the High Court for bail on this charge.
Defence solicitor Wayne Kenny said there was no application for legal aid at this point.
If legal aid is applied for, Gda Curran said that gardai would be seeking a full vouched statement of means.
Mr Callaghan has not yet indicated how he intends pleading to the charge.
