Top Dublin bakery closes eatery after reaching ‘tipping point’

The bakery has thanked all its customers who visited the eatery over the last two years

A top Dublin bakery has announced the closure of its restaurant space due to financial challenges.

Bread 41 on Pearse Street has decided to shut down its eatery two years after it opened. In a message on its website, the bakery said it was “exceedingly difficult to make a restaurant work in the current environment and we believe a tipping point has been reached where it is no longer viable to keep increasing prices given consumer apathy towards said and our ability to make a reasonable return.”

Bread 41, which is often touted as one of the top bakeries in Dublin, will be renovating the space to turn it into an area to create savoury pastries. The notice added: “We’ve been driven by market conditions, and have tried and mulled over a few iterations of our food offering over the years.
