Man (20s) in serious condition in hospital after assault during violent burglary

A man in his twenties was hospitalised on Tuesday evening after a serious assault during an ‘aggravated burglary’ in Dublin.

The attack happened on Kilbarron Road in Coolock and gardaí have arrested a man who has since been charged.

A garda spokesperson stated: “A large amount of criminal damage was done to the property. A man (20s) was seriously assaulted during the incident and was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition remains serious.

As part of this investigation, a man (50s) was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in North Dublin.

“He has since been charged and is due to appear before Criminal Courts of Justice, Court number 4, this morning Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 10.30am.”

Investigations into the serious incident are ongoing.
